Burning Man 1996: Building Our Camp
After parking our vehicles in a semi-circle, our first order of business was to raise the structure designed by Stig and Joel. We started by making the platform holder and then adding the four legs.
 Even though it had been almost completely assembled once before, in San Francisco, recent changes required the four of us to tweak each connection.
 Luckily we had battery-operated power tools, and some elbow grease for the manual tools.
 With the platform supports in place we flip the entire thing over and hang our combined weight from it to drive the rebar in the feet down into the playa.
 Repeat for each corner. Extra points for grunting and yelling.
 Then Stig and I tighten each of the corner bolts again. It does look like we have some sort of playa snowshoes, but sadly it's only a folding camp stool.
 It holds our weight! We test this on an unsuspecting Stig. He survived.
 Yea! The hard part is done. The rest is cosmetic, and will take much less time and sweat.
