2000 Italia: Roman Miscellany
Here's where I put everything else, those pictures and snippets of text for which I found no better place.
Here's one of the bridges over the Tevere. I think it's the Ponte Umberto, behind which is the Palazzo di Giustizio. I'm not sure.
 The Piazza di Spagna and Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti (The Spanish Steps of Rome). Nearby is a very expensive shopping district (luckily we didn't need any Fendi handbags :-) and a very famous place to sip some of the bean: Caffé Greco, founded in 1760. We came, we saw, we sipped.
 The progress of influence of the Roman Empire. Taken from a building on the Via Dei Fori Imperiali between the Foro Romano (Roman Forum) and the Colosseo (Coliseum).
One hears a lot about pickpockets and gypsies. We were happy to be overlooked by the pickpockets, so they don't figure in this travelogue, but we did see the gypsy here and there. The young men selling trinkets all over town and the occasional elderly woman begging for change:
