Welcome to Geek Times!
Monday 12 April 1999

Welcome to Geek Times, my latest experiment in web concept branding and typography. I'm tired of ugly, confusing, trite websites which appear to be little more than excuses for soliciting sponsorship. So we'll have none of that here.

Link-rot? Nope, none of that sloppiness.

Hysterical, self-serving articles written by youngsters who don't remember a world before TCP/IP-based graphical web, news, or email clients? Oh, I don't think so.

So what is Geek Times? Well, just as the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Times of London describe the world in a locale-centered way, Geek Times will describe the world in a mindset-centered way, starting with the the geek elements of my life and times. (My personal pages will continue to be my chronicle of everything else.)

I hope you enjoy what you're seeing here. I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

What about the links?

Link rot is a terrible thing. Rest assured, the links into the Digital Jungle content will remain unchanged, except of course that the domain part will change from www.jungle.com to www.GeekTimes.com.

jungle.com moves here!
Sunday 4 July 1999

Starting today, the Digital Jungle Consulting Services web pages - formerly located at jungle.com - will move here. Why? Because I needed to break things up into units that made sense. I'm currently in the process of moving technical items into these pages, personal anecdotes and travelogues to my personal pages, and the tiny weblet describing the consulting business in to their own space.

When all is said and done I think the content will better fit in their respective contexts.
